ACNe
Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. Acne usually appears on your face, neck, chest, back and shoulders.
The Problem
The underlying problem for most people with acne is actually a hormone issue occurring in the sebaceous glands of the skin. Sebaceous glands produce a substance called sebum, which is responsible for keeping the skin moisturized. During adolescence, sebaceous glands enlarge and produce more sebum under the influence of hormones called androgens which are testosterone-like hormones. Androgens can cause the sebaceous glands to produce too much sebum which leads to blackheads and whiteheads seen in acne. The sebum is also a food source for bacteria, so the acne can become infected and inflamed with redness and swelling as well.
The Solution
To help clear up your acne, we recommend a topical cream that contains medications typically given by mouth to treat acne. Rather than focusing on an antibiotic to kill the bacteria involved with acne, the key ingredient in our formula blocks androgens from over-producing sebum in the sebaceous glands. This approach is focused at solving the root cause of the acne rather than just getting rid of a symptom of the underlying problem.
